18/10/2009 - Freedom Brewery Wins Best Sponsorship at SIBA Business Awards
Freedom Brewery won the Best Sponsorship Initiative Award for its involvement in this year’s Freedom Heart Fest 09, held in Barton under Needwood over the 31st July – 2nd August . Freedom Heart Fest 09 raised a total of £11474.25 for The British Heart Foundation and Rainbows Hospice in Loughborough, a specialist respite centre for children.
Over the Freedom Heart Fest weekend, despite the terrible weather conditions, over 2,200 pints of Freedom Lager were drunk! The live bands included Max Raptor (who have supported The Zutons and Billy Tallent), Dave Titley, AV8, Fantastik 2 and The Cloth. The Freedom Heart Fest goers got stuck in to the different activities, which included an It’s A Knockout and Barton’s Got Talent competition.
The judging panel of industry experts praised Freedom Brewery for its winning entry. Pete Brown, beer writer and one of the judges, commented, “Freedom Brewery, and the other local brewers here tonight, are living proof that success can be achieved without a large chequebook. What came through very clearly in all the Awards entries was the creativity and resourcefulness that local brewers are using to develop their business. With talent and determination like this driving our local brewing sector, it’s no wonder that it’s enjoying growth while the overall beer market is in decline.”
The SIBA Brewing Business Awards, now in their fourth year, celebrate the business development skills and entrepreneurial flair of SIBA members. At the Awards presentation, 16 brewers were recognised for their achievements in areas such as customer service, marketing, innovation and, in a category introduced this year, environmental endeavour.
